8TH GRADE FOOTBALL VS. DEL RIO

On Tuesday October 18, 2016 the Panthers played host to
Del Rio. The White Team Game proved to be one that went down to the wire and the Panthers were victorious with a score of 6-0.  The Panther Defense held Del Rio with multiple sacks by Christopher Elizardo and a fumble recovery by Logan Gill. Elizardo also recovered a Del Rio fumble to seal the deal. The Panther Offense moved the ball well, resulting in a Tyler Mangum touchdown from 20 yards out for the win. In the Orange Team Game the Panthers struck first and never looked back. The first score was a 65 yard kickoff return by Cristian Flores and Mason Vogel added the PAT kick. The second score was a connection between Sam Clendenin and Tanner Haby from 25 yards out and Vogel booted in the PAT. The third touchdown was a pick six by Cristian Flores making the score 22-0 at half. The Panthers capped off their scoring in the second half with Mason Vogel splitting the defense from 70 yards out and Sam Clendenin connected with Alexander Rivas for the point after. Solid defensive play from Tanner Haby with 2 interceptions, Cristian Flores 1 interception, Alexander Rivas 1 interception, and Mason Vogel add on final interception proved to be too much for Del Rio to handle. Justin Hutnyak and Kaiden Hernandez both recorded sacks to helped lead the Panthers to victory. The final score was 29-6. The Panthers continue to improve looking forward to a strong finish to the season. Next Tuesday the Panthers will travel to Uvalde for their second meeting this season.

Last night the 7th grade Panthers took on Del Rio. Both teams played the best game they have played all season last night. Their heart and determination was rewarded with two victories. The A team came out strong offensively and never looked back. Play after play the Panthers were far more physical and prepared. Bobby Peterson followed with the PAT kick to make the score 8-0. The Panthers came back out and weren’t through gutting the Del Rio defense. Alex Roth would go on to score from the 1 yard line after another clock eating drive. Bobby Peterson followed with the PAT kick to make the score 16-6. In the second half the Panthers continued to run all over Del Rio which set up the 25 yard pass to Michael Tomaseli perfect.
