7th Grade Boys Basketball Vs. Kerrville

On Thursday, January 5th the 7th Grade Panthers battled the Mighty Peterson Spikes. The White Team fought hard but fell short 27-17. 
The scoring was as follows:

The Orange Team dug deep late in the game to come back and win the score of 37-33.

7th Grade Boys Basketball @ Hondo Tournament

On Saturday January 7, 2017 the 7th Grade Panthers competed in the Hondo Middle School Basketball Tournament. The White Team squared off with Devine first and was victorious 34-24 to earn a spot in the championship game. They battled Bandera but fell short 25-18 claiming second place on the day.

The Orange Team first encountered a very athletic Devine Team and won 34-21. They then faced Hondo in the championship round and won 31-19 clinching the Tournament Championship. 
The Tournament Scoring was as follows:

This Thursday January 12th the Panthers will travel to Hondo. Go Panthers Go!!!

Last Thursday The 8th grade Panther basketball team took on the Tivy Spikes at home. The B team fought a tough battle against the Spikes and kept the game a nail biter into the final minutes. Unfortunately for the Panthers the Spikes would out edge them and win with a final score of 41-47. Scorers included Chris Child with 11 points and high scorer of the night, Iverson Brown with 8, Alex Rivas with 7, Corey Roberson with 4, Britian Griggs with 3, Tate Holzhaus, Tanner Haby, and Cameron Hernandez all had 2 points. 

A team would play next looking for revenge against the Spikes from the first game of the year. The Panthers played well as a team and kept the battle close with the Spikes. With a great effort all the way to the end the Panthers beat the Spikes 32-27. Scorers included Kayden Hernandez with 10, Mason Vogel with 8, Adrian Neri with 4, Jared Marty with 3, Jared Laque, Tyler Mangum and Sam Clendennin all has 2 points.

Hondo Tournament

The 8th Grade B team would start off the Hondo tournament against the Devine Colts. With a shutout first quarter the Panthers picked up their play. The Panthers and Colts would have a tough battle the rest of the way as the game went back and forth until the very end. The Panthers took control in the 4th quarter to stay with the Colts. With the game tied and seconds left Britian Griggs hit a three to secure the Panthers win and send them into the winners bracket. The final score was 28-24. The Panthers would face Hondo in the championship. The last game these teams played did not fare well for the Panthers with a loss in overtime. The Panthers came out early with a lead and would hold it the first quarter. The Owls fought back however and took the lead 2nd quarter. With only a couple minutes left the Panthers worked to get the lead back before half! The 2nd half was a fight but the Panthers wouldn’t give up and edged out the Owls to win the Championship. Scorers for the tournament include Chris Child, Iverson Brown and Britain Griggs who were the tournaments highest scorers with 20 points for Child 19 points for Brown and 18 points for Griggs. Other scorers included Alex Rivas with 4, Tanner Haby and Corey Roberson with 2 each. Congrats Panthers on The Hondo Tournament Championship. 

The 8th grade A Team would face off against the Devine Colts in the first contest of the Hondo tournament. The game was close all the way to the end. Unfortunately the Colts would get the upper hand against the Panthers and win with a final score 32-29. The Panthers would face the Bandera Bulldogs for 3rd place. The Panthers played great team basketball the second game. The Panthers would gain and keep the lead on the bulldogs the rest of the game with a final score of 29-16. Scorers for the tournament included Mason Vogel with 19 points and the tournaments high scorer. Other scorers included Kayden Hernandez with 15, Andrew Alonzo with 7, Tyler Mangum with 5, Nathanial Marasigan, Cristian Romo, Sam Clendennin, and Jared Laque all had 4 points. 

Both teams will face Hondo in Hondo Thursday January 12th starting at 5pm with the B team and A team following.
